JOSHUA "BABA" TAVARES

Joshua "Baba" Tavares (he/him) is a Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) actor, singer, dancer, writer, director and teacher based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Receiving his MFA in Acting and Hana Keaka (Hawaiian Theatre) from UH Mānoa, he now serves as the Assistant Professor of Acting Known for his standout performance as Angel in the 20th Anniversary National Tour of the Broadway musical RENT, he's also a pioneer in Hawaiʻi's theatre scene, originating captivating roles and creating groundbreaking original works including: Haku Wale and Glitter in the Paʻakai. He also has credits in TV including a co starring role in Fox's new series, Rescue HI Surf. Most recently he joined the company of Cirque du Soleil's sensational Waikīkī show, ʻAUANA. Baba is a passionate storyteller and teacher and his unwavering commitment to his craft and community shines both on and off the stage and screen.
